Over the weekend, a man on active parole found himself back in custody after a disturbance in Bloomington. At approximately 11:21 a.m. on Saturday, San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the 10800 block of Cedar Avenue, as someone had been reported screaming in the area.
Upon arrival, they made contact with one Andrew Toribio, 29, an unhoused individual who is known to frequent Victorville. When questioned by the authorities, Toribio attempted to mislead the officers by providing a false name. The situation escalated when he began to resist arrest and refused to follow deputies' orders. Reinforcements arrived shortly, facilitating his capture without further incident. A statement released by the Sheriff's Department detailed that Toribio was on parole for a residential robbery and was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance at the time of his arrest.
Toribio's run-in with the law resulted in him being booked into the West Valley Detention Center on no bail due to the parole violation. Those with any additional information relating to the incident are encouraged to reach out to the Fontana Sheriff’s Station or anonymously through the We-Tip Hotline.
For the San Bernardino community, deputies continue to advise maintaining vigilance and have provided contact details for those who may have pertinent details about cases similar to that of Toribio's. The Fontana Sheriff's Station can be reached at (909) 356-6767, while anonymous tips can be submitted through their We-Tip Hotline. As the investigation unfolds, updates are expected to be provided by the Sheriff-Coroner's Office.
