
Tragedy struck a parking lot at the intersection of E. Beltline Rd. and Joe Wilson Rd. when a car fire claimed the lives of a person and a dog on Monday evening. According to a social media post by the Cedar Hill Police Department, officers were called to the scene around 7:40 pm after receiving reports of a vehicle engulfed in flames.
Arriving officers were met with the sight of smoke billowing from the car. A man, who had just exited a nearby store, informed the officers with his friend and dog still inside the car. While he was outside, Cedar Hill Fire Department personnel arrived swiftly and extinguished the blaze.
As the community copes with the loss, Cedar Hill authorities are investigating the cause of the fire. The identities of the deceased have not been released to respect the families' privacy.
