According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department Blotter, last Saturday, a Gig Harbor officer clocked a black Escalade at 67 mph amidst dangerous lane changes. The ensuing pursuit, escalated by the driver's attempt to flee, ended with a PIT maneuver that left the vehicle incapacitated in a ditch. A 20-year-old male driver was arrested for next steps in legal processing, whereas the 19-year-old passenger was released at the scene; inside the vehicle, authorities spotted firearms and narcotics, with later investigation revealing a stolen and modified short-barrel rifle and a pistol equipped with an illegal conversion switch.
The following day brought more peculiar police work, as deputies responded to a call about a suspicious figure meandering through properties on the 19900 block of 122nd St. E. The suspect, a 37-year-old female, was masquerading as a UPS worker equipped with a fake badge and burglary tools, and upon a search, deputies discovered the individual — a convicted felon — unlawfully possessed a firearm alongside those burglary tools, a crime scene painted with the hues of deception and potential theft.
