
The city of Goodyear announced on February 4th the appointment of Rachel Garcia as the new Deputy City Manager, joining the city's executive team. "We are delighted to welcome Rachel to our executive leadership team," City Manager Wynette Reed highlighted that Garcia's extensive governmental experience would be beneficial to the Goodyear community, according to an announcement on the city's official website.
Garcia, drawn to Goodyear's status as one of the fastest-growing cities in the nation and its commitment to community strength, expressed her enthusiasm for the new role. "I love Goodyear because of its sense of community. I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve and be a part of a city with a strong vision and leadership for future growth while providing ongoing quality services to residents," Garcia told the City of Goodyear.
Garcia brings over 20 years of experience in the state and county government sectors. Her background includes roles such as Deputy Assistant Director at the Arizona Department of Health Services and Bureau Chief of Emergency Medical Services and Trauma System. She also managed the CDC Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity Program, overseeing a budget of nearly $1 billion for infrastructure projects. In her position as Deputy Chief of Public Health Emergency Preparedness, she coordinated statewide public health initiatives and worked with various partners to deliver services throughout Arizona.
Garcia holds a Master of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Arizona. She has received recognition for her work in promoting healthier communities in Arizona. As a family-oriented individual, she is focused on supporting initiatives that aim to improve the lives of residents in Goodyear and beyond, with the goal of creating a lasting impact for future generations, as she said in a statement released by the City of Goodyear.
