Rockford Man Charged with Attempted Homicide for Arson Attack in Bensalem, PASource: Bensalem Township Police Department

A 21-year-old Rockford man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly traveling over 700 miles to set fire to a house in Bensalem Township, Pennsylvania, an act authorities say almost resulted in multiple fatalities. Harrison Jones has been charged with six counts of attempted homicide alongside arson and related offenses, following an investigation into the last Monday's fire that destroyed the home on Merganser Way, as per a report by Fox 17.

Traffic and surveillance camera data helped identify and trace Jones' movements, who is believed to have intentionally set the fire. The blaze caused some residents to jump from second-story windows to escape. Two dogs were killed in the fire, and all six adult residents inside at the time were hospitalized for smoke inhalation, according to a report by WZZM 13.

Investigations indicate that Jones may have been motivated by jealousy. He reportedly took a trip specifically to target a home where a man, who was engaged in an online relationship with Jones' ex-girlfriend, resided. The woman was supposed to meet the Bucks County man in person for the first time that same week, Audacy reports.

The Bensalem Township Director of Public Safety, William McVey, described the incident as "a nightmare for anyone," stressing the family's fortunate survival. "It is clear to us that Mr. Jones had murderous intentions," he stated in an interview obtained by WZZM 13. Law enforcement officials quickly pieced together the evidence leading back to Jones. Items seized at his residence included the Volkswagen Passat noticed on surveillance footage, lock-picking devices, and various potential burn treatments.

Jones is currently awaiting extradition back to Pennsylvania to face the charges brought against him. If convicted, the penalties he faces exceed his natural lifespan, as reported by Audacy.
