With the stakes raised, the firefighters pivoted from fighting the blaze to executing a search and rescue operation. The child was located in a bedroom, and in a coordinated effort, was passed through a window to safety by the team inside the burning house. As reported by the San Bernardino County Fire, 30 firefighters were deployed, including one truck company, one medic squad, and three chief officers.
The rescued girl was then placed into the care of nearby medical personnel who transported her to a local hospital. She was described as being in serious, but stable condition. It was not just human lives that were safeguarded – the firefighters also saved the family's dog from the inferno, as detailed by the San Bernardino County Fire.
The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District urges residents to keep bedroom doors closed, particularly when someone is sleeping. In a recent incident, a closed door played a crucial role in preventing smoke and flames from causing severe injuries, allowing emergency crews to locate a child safely without significant burns or airway damage.
