
On Monday night, a woman was tragically shot and killed in the Westmont neighborhood of South LA, as reported by FOX LA. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies arrived at the scene near the intersection of Vermont and Manchester avenues after receiving a call around 9:30 p.m. The woman, suffering from a gunshot wound, was taken to an area hospital by LA City Fire where she was declared dead. In addition to the fatal victim, a man was also shot in the foot and is currently receiving treatment for his injury.
According to a KTLA report, this incident marked the second fatal shooting on the same block within just a few days. A man had been killed close by on the previous Sunday night. Detectives are investigating the events leading up to both shootings and have yet to determine if there is any connection between the two. The suspect in the latest shooting, described only as an adult male, was seen fleeing on foot behind the location.
Moreover, a correction issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department indicated that a second victim, an adult male Black, sustained a non-life-threatening injury to the foot during the incident. The suspect remains unidentified and at large, with authorities actively seeking any information that may lead to his capture.
