Second Teen Arrested on Aggravated Robbery Charges in Spring Resident's Fatal Facebook Marketplace TransactionSource: X/Ed Gonzalez

A second teenager has been taken into custody in relation to a fatal robbery in Spring, Texas, originating from a Facebook Marketplace transaction gone awry. Yesterday, authorities revealed that 17-year-old Dhilan Kewalramani was arrested last Friday and is facing aggravated robbery charges. This announcement comes shortly after the an incident that led to the death of 39-year-old Dat Truong, according to Click2Houston.

Details surrounding the incident indicate Truong was discovered unconscious on January in the driveway of a residence on Bridgestone Pine Court and, unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after at Kingwood Hospital. Sergeant Sidney Miller of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said Truong had made arrangements to sell items via Facebook which ultimately led to the fatal robbery. The initial apprehension of another suspect, 17-year-old Jose Soto, was confirmed by Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, though details of the second individual at-large, were not disclosed until Kewalramani's recent arrest.

Witnesses reported seeing a white vehicle arrive on the scene, with at least three individuals inside. A confrontation escalated into a struggle, and, during this altercation, the injuries sustained by Truong are believed to have led to his death. A video shared with Click2Houston displayed a graphic sequence where Truong was seen being pursued, thrown to the ground, and then having his pockets searched by the assailants.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office urges anyone with information about the robbery to come forward. Additionally, Kewalramani is also facing charges for several unrelated felony crimes, an update shared by the official Sheriff's Office though a social media post.

Sgt. Miller informed the public about the potential risks of at-home transactions resulting from online sales. He recommended that exchanges take place in safer locations, such as police stations or public spaces, to reduce associated risks. Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact the Harris County Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit at 713-274-9100 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
