Following Saturday's severe storms in Tipton County, Tennessee, local authorities have reported several road closures due to significant flooding. Tipton County Sheriff Shannon Beasley confirmed the affected areas, stating, "At the moment, these are the roadways we currently have closed due to flooding" in a social media post. The closures include Lucado Rd., Old Memphis near McCain, Old Memphis near Sawmill, Fayne Rd. at Cheryl, the 2300 block of Atoka-Idaville, and the 2800 block of Portersville, Hwy. 59W at Barton Ln, and Hwy. 14 in the 2300 block north of Hwy. 59 (south of 179).
Deputies are working with Tipton County Public Works and the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) to manage the situation by placing warning barriers to redirect traffic, as reported by WREG. The sheriff's office is urging residents to avoid the flooded roadways and, if faced with a submerged road, to turn around for safety. Residents in need of assistance or reporting flooding can contact Central Dispatch at 901-475-4300.
Additional information from Action News 5 confirms that Tipton County is taking necessary precautions on this First Alert Weather Day and encourages locals to stay informed about the evolving conditions. The Office of the Sheriff also suggests the community stay tuned for updates on roadway conditions, which may change if the flooding persists or worsens.
