A structure fire in Sevier County's Sky Harbor Community was attended by multiple fire departments last Friday night. Per a statement from the Pigeon Forge Fire Department, the emergency call was received at 6:03 PM, and crews arrived on the scene to battle a working structure fire. The fire, visible by a large plume of smoke, was extinguished with no injuries reported to civilians or firefighters, detailed the City of Pigeon Forge Fire Department.
During the incident, local officials urged the public to avoid the area and the roads leading to the Sky Harbor to ensure emergency vehicles could easily get through. "We can confirm there is a structure fire in Sky Harbor and that at this time we need people to stay out of the area and off the roads to Sky Harbor to allow emergency vehicles to get through," officials with the Sky Harbor Property Association told WVLT News. The collaborative firefighting effort included Sevier County Fire and Rescue, Catons Chapel Richardson Cove Volunteer Fire Department, and the Walden's Creek Volunteer Fire Department.
The location of the fire, briefly interrupting the tranquil night, was situated between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg — two cities nestled in the mountainous terrain renowned for their proximity to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. According to WBIR, the incident occurred in the Sky Harbor area, which lies near the Spur, a well-known strip connecting both cities.
