Early Friday morning, Southwest Airlines Flight 2795 returned to Hobby Airport in Houston after a smoke odor was detected in the cabin. The Boeing 737 landed safely at 5:30 a.m. following reports of smoke in the rear of the plane. According to KHOU, the crew followed safety procedures, and no injuries were reported.
After a routine landing, emergency personnel inspected the aircraft before it taxied to the terminal. The 102 passengers and crew were later transferred to another flight to continue their journey to Tampa, as reported by KHOU.
Southwest Airlines apologized to passengers for the disruption, stating, "Nothing is more important to Southwest than the Safety of our Customers and Employees." The replacement aircraft arrived in Tampa nearly two hours late. Smoke filled the back of the plane with a noticeable odor, and the cause is still under investigation, as stated by WFLA.
