St. Louis Park has ushered in a new era for its fire department, welcoming Chief Peter Hanlin to the helm as the city's new fire chief. In a statement obtained by the City of St. Louis Park, Minnesota's official social media, the city expressed its confidence in Chief Hanlin's dedication to the role and the community. "The role of fire chief is vital, not only to lead the fire department but also to be a leader in our community by embodying the values of effective leadership – integrity, accountability, dedication and compassion," City Manager Kim Keller articulated.
Bringing a wealth of experience to the table, Chief Hanlin has been part of the firefighting community since 2006. Having worked with fire departments from Maple Grove to Brooklyn Park, his journey led to the Red Wing Fire Department, where according to the City of St. Louis Park's Facebook post, he most recently served as assistant fire chief and emergency management director. With an impressive educational background that boasts a bachelor's degree in fire science and a master's degree in public administration along with graduating from the National Fire Academy’s Managing Officer program, Chief Hanlin's qualifications speak to a strong foundation for leadership.
Chief Hanlin expressed gratitude for the reception he has received, remarking, "I really appreciate the warm welcome from the city."
