The Sterling Heights Public Library has rolled out a new way to check out its digs from the comfort of your screen. A fresh interactive 3D virtual tour now lives on their website, shpl.net, courtesy of a collaboration with LunaTech 3D. The virtual experience offers a full visual walkthrough designed for ease of access and to give visitors a heads-up on what to expect before they step foot inside.
Accessibility and inclusivity are the heart of this new feature. It's a big plus for those with disabilities, those with anxiety about new places, or, frankly, anyone who prefers to do a digital recon before physically showing up. LunaTech 3D's technology ensures that visitors can navigate the library's spaces with familiarity, as the City of Sterling Heights recently announced.
According to the city's press release, the library's director, Tammy Turgeon, "Many people feel uncertain when visiting a new space, and we want to remove those barriers." She added, "This interactive tool allows users to explore the entire library from their device, helping them feel comfortable and prepared before they walk through our doors." It looks like the Sterling Heights library is onto something, knocking down the typical jitters that come with hitting up a new spot.
