A high-speed police pursuit ended in arrest yesterday after a 30-year-old person from River Rouge allegedly fled from Southfield police. The incident, which took place just before 10 a.m., caused a significant disturbance in traffic, leading to a blockade on Lodge Freeway near Southfield Freeway. ClickOnDetroit reports that the car in question, a 2024 Kia Sorrento, was believed to be involved in a crime out of Detroit.

Having entered the car into a law enforcement database earlier that week by the Detroit Police Department, Southfield police attempted to initiate a traffic stop in the area of 9 Mile and Southfield roads. The vehicle, however, failed to comply and sped away, initiating the chase onto the Lodge Freeway from Evergreen Road. It ended with the Southfield Police making "intentional contact" with the car, according to WWJ Newsradio, and resulted in minor injuries for the vehicle's two other occupants, residents of Southfield and Detroit.

As a consequence of the pursuit, traffic was diverted from the M-10 freeway onto the Southfield Freeway, causing delays for commuters. FOX 2 Detroit reported that officers blocked Lodge near Nine Mile after pinpointing the vehicle, which was under a felony warrant. No injuries were reported at the time of the event, and aerial footage captured the moment the SUV was towed away.
