According to CBS News Detroit, one person was shot, and the suspect is now deceased following a barricade situation that started late in the afternoon in Farmington. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office had alerted the public to avoid the area of Farmington Road via a post at 6:12 p.m., indicating an armed individual who had fired upon another person and then secluded themselves in a residence.
The law enforcement presence escalated as SWAT teams were involved, with ClickOnDetroit reporting that when officials finally made entry into the home after declaring the scene safe, they found the suspect dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The condition of the woman who was shot is still not disclosed.
Further details released by FOX 2 Detroit revealed that this was a domestic violence situation, with Farmington Public Safety Director Bob Houhanisin stating that officers arrived at the Warner Street location to find a female victim who had been shot and her husband, who had retreated inside their home. "Officers secured the scene and the SWAT team went inside to confirm there was no other danger," Houhanisin explained.
The identities of the victim and suspect have not been disclosed.
