Alpine Avenue in Kent County was the scene of a multi-vehicle collision yesterday, involving a semi-truck and four other vehicles, which resulted in two individuals sustaining injuries. According to FOX 17, the chain-reaction incident began when a car going southbound attempted a turn and encountered a northbound semi-truck near Henze Drive.
The violent encounter forced both the southbound car and the semi to sideswipe three other vehicles. Michigan State Police reported that the driver of the first vehicle was hospitalized with serious injuries, and the semi-driver managed only a minor hand injury, a detail confirmed by WZZM 13. The other drivers involved escaped the chaos unscathed.
As a consequence of the crash, a portion of Alpine Avenue between Henze and 4 Mile Road was temporarily closed down by MSP, disrupting traffic and calling for a prompt response. WOODTV reported sand was deployed to absorb engine fluids spilled across the tarmac, a move to ensure the safety of other motorists and aid in the cleanup operations. The road was reopened later that same afternoon, shortly before 4:30 p.m.
