Two juveniles at McMinn County High School have been charged with conspiracy to commit acts of terrorism following the discovery of a video that indicated they were plotting a school shooting, as reported by WVLT-TV. Sheriff Joe Guy was contacted by a parent on Thursday night after they uncovered footage on their son's phone dating back to November; the video showed the two students wearing masks and discussing an attack on specific peers.

Upon the parent's alarming disclosure, swift action was taken by authorities with Sheriff Guy immediately reaching out to School Safety Supervisor Justin Wallace and local law enforcement; which included the school's Resource Officer and a Homeland Security Agent, this hasty response resulted in suspension of the suspects from school the very next day along with plans for their threat assessments and evaluations according to information from WBIR-TV. "We are grateful to the parent for notifying law enforcement of the concerning material that prompted our actions and investigation," said Wallace in a statement which also addressed the collaboration between the school administration and law enforcement ensuring no immediate danger was posed to staff or students.

Investigations led to the uncovering of additional statements and evidence on the students' mobile devices implying that an attack was being orchestrated the officials directed the devices for a thorough digital forensic analysis; both suspects are currently undergoing psychological evaluations and counseling as they face their charges, as detailed by WIVK. Consequentially, one of the juveniles has been taken into custody at the Bradley County Juvenile Detention Center, while the other is said to be receiving mental health treatment before being transferred to the juvenile detention facility upon completion.

The incident remains confined to the two individuals charged, with no additional suspects implicated in the planning of the violence; both sets of parents are cooperating with law enforcement as the investigation progresses.
