Just in time for Library Lovers Month, the Union County Library is offering a digital upgrade to your reading habits. Aiming to keep community members connected with their love of books and resources, the library has rolled out its latest innovation—an all-encompassing mobile app to make library services more accessible for everyone. The new app promises a more efficient library experience, from managing your account to browsing the catalog of books, audiobooks, and more.
The app, which has seen over 400 downloads since its launch in late 2024, offers an array of features. Users can now easily search for and reserve items in the library’s collection or scan a book’s ISBN barcode to see if it's available—an addition sure to be welcomed by those who come across books in bookstores or friends' homes and wonder if they can grab a library copy instead. Patrons also have the ability to check due dates and manage their accounts right from their devices, according to a statement released by the Union County.
In her announcement, Union County Library Director, Nina Chaffin emphasized the ethos behind the technological push. "Our mobile app is designed to bring the library closer to you,” Chaffin said. “It’s about making our resources and services more accessible, so everyone can enjoy what we offer, no matter where they are." The app also features an event calendar so library goers won't miss out on programs and activities, as per the Union County.
The Union County Library app is available for download on both Android and iOS devices, making it as accessible as the services it aims to provide. It opens up a digital doorway to stream and download e-books and audiobooks, ensuring that library patrons can dip into narratives and knowledge pools at their leisure—anytime, anywhere. As the community celebrate the joy of reading, the library's website invites people to join in and take advantage of all the resources provided by the app.
