The LGBTQ+ Center at Washington State University's Pullman campus is marking a milestone with its 30th anniversary, set to be commemorated with a reception and drag show this Friday, Feb. 7. The celebration will kick off with the 30th Anniversary Reception from 1-3 p.m. in the Terrell Library Atrium, offering a free event to all attendees. A highlight will be a look back at the history of LGBTQ+ activism at WSU through an exhibit, as well as speakers discussing the center's journey and ongoing mission.

As reported by WSU News, "People will have an opportunity to go into the archives and see first-hand some documents and photos showing student activism through the decades," explained Josie Cohen-Rodriguez, the center's student life and community coordinator. Later in the day, from 5-8 p.m., the anniversary will shift gears to a more festive atmosphere with a drag show in the Compton Union Building (CUB) Junior Ballroom, where tickets will be required.

Since its inception, the center has been a beacon of advocacy and support. "What has been striking to me in looking at the archived records is how it was student activism that made the center possible," Cohen-Rodriguez told WSU News. Signature programs such as the Q*Hort Orientation program, InQueery Symposium, and Lavender Graduation highlight the center's commitment to the community.
