The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department is rolling out an opportunity for individuals aiming to wear the badge, by officially announcing the closing of applications for their Law Enforcement Academy Sponsorship. Those who make the cut and get chosen will be privy to a salary and incur no costs for the academy, which is scheduled for a July 30 to December 5, 2025 stretch. The department's official social media outlets signaled the close of the application window yesterday at 4 PM Central, noting that 2024 & 2025 wages and benefits are hinged upon the ratification of a new collective bargaining agreement.
Candidates have a series of dates to keep in their diaries should they advance through the selection process, the first being the Department Physical Ability Test (PAT) on March 1, 2025, followed by a couple of interview phases slated for the 8th, 9th, 22nd, and 23rd of March, and as the anticipation builds for those making it through further, a Physical Readiness Test (PRT) rounds off the month on the 29th, posted Waukesha County Sheriff's Department.
As to be expected with any reputable law enforcement position, the bar is set firmly: U.S. citizenship, high school diploma or equivalent, and at minimum, an associate degree-level education in pertinent fields, are all part of the roster of requirements. Notably, one may have up to 60 credits waived, but only if they already hold a valid waiver from the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board at the time of this application, which is further detailed on the WILENET website.
