Big news for aviation enthusiasts: The Westmoreland County Air Show is gearing up for its centennial celebration. According to an exclusive announcement on the Big K Morning Show by Audacy, the storied event is slated for June 21 and 22 at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport. "We say about 100,000 people witness this, every time we have a major airshow and this is going to be a big one," Gabe Monzo, Airport Authority Executive Director, told Larry Richert during the announcement. Spectators can keep abreast of ticket sales and other pertinent details on the event's website.

Adding to the fanfare, the Canadian Forces demonstration team, known as the Snowbirds, is confirmed to headline this historic airshow, marking their return since their last appearance in 2019. "The Snowbirds are a super precision team and they do a really nice job, they’ve been here several times but, we also have the United States Air Force F-16s," Monzo said in the same statement shared with Audacy. The first air show in Westmoreland County dates back to 1925, when the facility went by the name Longview Flying Field, making this 100th anniversary a celebration of aviation and a nod to the airport's longstanding history.

Further details from a CBS News Pittsburgh reveal that the Snowbirds will showcase their nine CT-114 Tutor jet aircraft. Gabe Monzo expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming event. "It was unexpected but certainly very welcome," Monzo said, "We are ramping up our planning and looking forward to a wonderful event." The airshow will also feature static aircraft displays, various vendors, and several other attractions, pending government approval.
