In a show of unity and support for athletes with special needs, the White Settlement community has rallied to raise funds for Special Olympics Texas and the White Settlement ISD Brewer High School JETS Special Programs. Over the past month, the White Settlement Police Department has joined forces with local organizations, contributing to three fundraising events that have generated significant support for these empowering programs. The latest of these events, a skate night that combined fun and philanthropy, successfully raised $1,500.
According to a social media post by the White Settlement Police Department, "participants raised $1,500 and the VFW 5617 Post White Settlement Texas presented a check for $1,500 to the JETS." This encapsulates the collective effort that defined the event’s success.
The funds raised from these events will support Special Olympics Texas, which helps people with intellectual disabilities access sports training and competition, improve their fitness, build courage, and foster friendships with other athletes and their families.
