Wilmington police arrested 45-year-old Andre Patrick after a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of a loaded firearm. The arrest took place on Thursday last week after officers from the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division noticed traffic violations by a vehicle on West 7th Street and stopped it on Delaware Avenue.
According to a Wilmington Police Department release on nixle, during the stop, officers found a .45 caliber handgun, which was reported stolen. Patrick, the driver, is facing a charge of receiving a stolen firearm in addition to the traffic violations.
The arrest was peaceful, with no incidents or harm to either the officers or Patrick. After appearing in New Castle County Court of Common Pleas, Patrick was released on a cash-only bail of $3,100.
