Over the weekend, law enforcement officials in Clackamas County arrested two individuals suspected of multiple burglaries in the Wilsonville area. According to a Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a burglary in progress last Saturday, reported at approximately 12:50 p.m. in the 12000 block of SW Wilsonville Rd.

In a dramatic scene, the suspects were caught after the driver, trying to escape the law's grasp, attempted to drive through a nearby field. The soggy Oregon mud, however, proved to be an unanticipated adversary, halting their getaway as the vehicle became entrenched. Deputies arriving at the scene spotted the suspect’s car and approached, but the male suspect, Jesus Camarena, made a break from the vehicle, only to be captured with help from two community members, running nearby.

The female accomplice stayed put inside the vehicle before another deputy apprehended her. Initially providing a false name, she was later identified as Julia Rose Sanftleben. The 2019 Toyota Grand Highlander they were found in was reported stolen out of Keizer. Items that raised suspicion among deputies were discovered — multiple identifications, gift cards, and mail that were not their property, along with what looked to be methamphetamine and other drug-related paraphernalia.

Further investigation revealed that the suspects may have been illegally entering homes multiple times, making away with various personal items. Charged with a series of offenses, Jesus Camarena, 28, from Woodburn, is being held without bail, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Wrapped in charges of Burglary, Theft, and Eluding Police, among others, he must now confront the legal consequences of his alleged actions. With an untold number of victims, 26-year-old Julia Rose Sanftleben from Aurora faces similar charges plus identity theft, providing false information to police, and must answer for two outstanding warrants.

Both offenders are currently detained, awaiting further proceedings, in the Clackamas County Jail.
