An 18-year-old Long Beach resident was arrested in connection with the deadly shooting of 32-year-old Edgar Ortiz-Escamilla that occurred in Long Beach on February 16, according to KTLA. Officers had responded to a shots call around 4:30 p.m. on the date of the incident, finding evidence of the shooting, and shortly after, two male adult victims were admitted to a local hospital with gunshot wounds linked to the crime scene. As reported by the LBPD, the shooting resulted in the death of Ortiz-Escamilla, and the other victim survived.

The Long Beach Police Department shared that the homicide detectives suspect the shooting may be gang-related, however, they are still meticulously piecing together the motive and circumstances of the shooting through an ongoing investigation.
