
In a sobering announcement from the Austin Police Department, a suspect has been taken into custody following a sexual assault incident that shook a local community. As reported by the City of Austin's official news release, 21-year-old Vince Presley Job Ward now faces multiple charges after an extensive investigation by the APD's Sex Crimes Unit.
The case unfolded in the predawn hours of Thursday, March 27th, when Ward allegedly entered the victim's home on the 3200 block of Mossrock Drive, perpetrated the assault while the victim was asleep, the situation quickly escalated as the victim escaped to seek assistance from neighbors and Ward allegedly exacerbated the violation by stealing the victim’s wallet, phone, and vehicle. Detective Vonholt of the APD's Sex Crimes Unit highlighted the swift collaboration across law enforcement divisions, stating, "The combined efforts of our Sex Crimes Unit, Special Victims Investigation Unit (SVIU), and Tac Intel were critical in ensuring the rapid apprehension of this suspect."
Ward's charges are extensive, including three counts of Sexual Assault, one count of Burglary of Residence with the intent to commit Sexual Assault, one count of Robbery, and one count of Burglary of Residence. Following his arrest, he was booked into the Travis County Jail. The urgency with which the Sex Crimes Unit responded and processed the scene was a testament to the gravity of such crimes and the priority to hold perpetrators accountable.
