Early this morning, the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to a call about a structure fire at 6208 W 77th St in Westchester. According to an alert from the LAFD, the blaze started in a single-family dwelling that was under construction and spread to two adjacent buildings. Firefighting teams were dispatched to the scene as the fire threatened to consume multiple structures in the vicinity. The first responders reported the construction site to be "fully involved with fire."
The fire, which broke out at approximately 6:08 AM, was met with additional units upon realizing the extent and potential danger it presented. Working vigorously, firefighters sought to prevent further spread and potential catastrophe. Thirty-eight firefighters from various battalions were brought in to battle the flames. Despite the early chaos, it took them 32 minutes to extinguish the fire fully, as reported in a follow-up knockdown alert from the LAFD.
Fortunately, no victims were found in the affected buildings, and there have been no injuries reported. The quick response and coordinated efforts of the LAFD teams played a crucial role in controlling the fire and ensuring the safety of the surrounding community. These teams were inclusive of firefighters and paramedics, who together confirmed the absence of any casualties. The LAFD stated, "Flames in all structures were fully extinguished in 32 minutes by 38 firefighters on scene."
Following the knockdown, fire companies remained on-site to manage overhaul operations and initiate an investigation into the fire's cause.
