
A tragic fire in Commerce Township claimed the life of a 62-year-old woman yesterday, officials have confirmed. According to reports from CBS News Detroit, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call around 10 a.m., alerting them of the blaze on Kara Court where it was reported that someone was trapped in an upstairs bedroom.
Responding to the urgent plea for help, deputies from the sheriff's office alongside the Commerce Township Fire Department who learned, of the stuck individual worked swiftly to combat the flames. In a somber discovery, the emergency teams located the victim inside her residence where, despite extinguishing the fire, she could not be saved. As noted by ClickOnDetroit, the woman was promptly taken to Huron Valley Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Fire Investigation Unit, who initially considers the cause of the fire to be accidental, has been tasked with unraveling the details of the incident. The precise origins and circumstances of the fire remain part of an ongoing investigation. An autopsy has been scheduled for the following day, aiming to provide more clarity into the exact cause of death, per a statement extracted from a report by The Detroit News.
