
On Tuesday evening, the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a structure fire at a two-story, boarded-up restaurant at 1259 W 6th Street in Westlake. According to the LAFD alert, smoke was visible upon arrival and firefighters swiftly transitioned into offensive mode, with additional resources being called in to combat the blaze.
The situation was deemed a major concern, prompting 72 firefighters to respond quickly. The LAFD's concerted efforts allowed them to successfully suppress the fire in roughly 22 minutes. "KNOCKDOWN: 72 firefighters extinguished the fire in 22 minutes with no injuries reported," stated the LAFD follow-up alert. The fire was effectively contained to the second floor, thus preventing it from spreading to adjacent structures.
Officials have not yet released details on the potential cause of the fire or the extent of the damage sustained by the restaurant. Moreover, there have been no reported injuries among the civilians or the firefighting personnel.
