According to the prosecutor's office, Eliveea E. Largent has entered a guilty plea to charges connected with the aiding of Wayne Pletcher's February escape from Muskingum County Jail. Largent is one among six individuals indicted for their suspected roles in the escape. Evidence pulled from Largent's residence and communications were critical in linking her to the crime and ultimately leading to her plea.
Detectives were quick to piece together the sequence of events surrounding Pletcher's escape. They accosted Largent and Leona Rivera-Dejesus, identified as Pletcher's cousin, who confirmed that Pletcher had been sheltered at Largent's Moxahala Avenue home immediately following his escape and on a subsequent occasion. During the investigation, the officers managed to quickly uncover not only Pletcher's physical presence but also the digital trails left behind in the form of messages and deleted phone calls on the devices belonging to Largent and Rivera-Dejesus.
The Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office has charged Largent with three felonies, two counts of Obstructing Justice, and one count of Tampering with Evidence. This set of charges—stemming from Largent's acts to conceal Pletcher on different days and her efforts to scrub her phone of incriminating evidence—could lead to a sentence of up to nine years in prison for the accused.
Ron Welch, Muskingum County Prosecutor Office, was clear about the consequences of such actions, stating, "Anyone helping criminals escape or helping criminals avoid being caught by law enforcement are going to face serious consequences." The statement emphasizes the administration's position on aiders and abettors in the judicial system. Largent’s sentencing will be determined at a date yet to be announced, and the prosecution of the other defendants will proceed in due course.
The full picture of Pletcher's escape and the network of assistance he received unfolds as the remaining individuals connected to his escape prepare to face their charges. The Prosecutor's Office will keep the public abreast of future developments in this ongoing legal saga.
