A kayaking excursion in Kissimmee State Park turned perilous yesterday afternoon when one of the kayakers was bitten by an alligator. As reported by WFTV, a woman sustained injuries to her elbow during the encounter, which took place in the Tiger Creek Preserve, part of Polk County. The group she was part of consisted of approximately 20 people, revealing the woman wasn't alone when the incident occurred.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the attack and mentioned that besides the injured woman, another kayaker had his life jacket ripped off by the alligator. Meanwhile, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) was promptly at the scene, with the response being reported first around 1:55 p.m. As detailed by FOX 35 Orlando, officials airlifted the injured party to Osceola Regional Medical Center for treatment, although the extent of her injuries remains unclear.

FWC, still present at the scene, is conducting an ongoing investigation to piece together the day’s traumatic events and ensure the safety of the park's visitors.
