Orlando is starting Sunday clear and muggy, with temperatures around 75 degrees before the heat ramps up fast. The city could reach 92 degrees by afternoon, with the heat index climbing to 103 and thunderstorms becoming possible in the afternoon. The calm morning is basically weather’s opening act.
The National Weather Service in Melbourne says the most concentrated storm activity may develop just east of the Orlando metro late Sunday afternoon and into the evening, where sea breezes collide. Slow-moving storms could bring heavy downpours, minor flooding in poorly drained areas, frequent lightning and localized wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely Sunday night before 11 p.m., with a low near 76 degrees. Some activity could linger after sunset, but the area should trend mostly dry by around 10 p.m.
More Storms And Stronger Winds Arrive Monday
Monday will be another hot day, with a high near 92 and a heat index as high as 105. Monday storm coverage is forecast at approximately 60%, while winds veer from northwest to northeast and become locally enhanced out of the east-northeast at around 10 mph.
Tuesday brings a slight chance of morning showers followed by more afternoon thunderstorms, with a high near 91. East-northeast winds will be around 15 mph Tuesday, with 20-to-25-knot winds overnight into Wednesday, before Wednesday turns a little cooler near 88 degrees but stays breezy with potential wind gusts near 30 mph.
The latest forecast is a substantive update from Hoodline’s earlier weekend outlook, with Sunday’s main storm window now more clearly focused on the afternoon and evening. Rain chances remain elevated later in the week, with a wet pattern expected Thursday through Saturday as highs stay near the upper 80s.
Moderate Rip Current Risk Continues
East Central Florida beaches remain under a moderate rip current risk. Swimmers should stay near a lifeguard, avoid entering the water alone and leave the beach promptly if thunderstorms approach.
No watches, warnings or advisories are posted for the Orlando area Sunday. Outdoor plans have the best odds early in the day, before the heat and storm chances build.
