The tragic sequence of events that unfolded in Anson County reached a grim conclusion as Michael Roach, the man accused of fatally shooting his six-year-old daughter Mianna, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. As confirmed by the Polkton police chief, Roach passed away in the hospital today. This development comes days after the harrowing incidents that began early Monday morning, WSOC-TV reports.
Earlier on Monday, investigators detailed that Roach was involved in a high-speed chase with law enforcement after crashing a stolen SUV. Following the crash, he shot himself, bringing the pursuit to an end. Prior to the chase, Law enforcement believes he abducted his daughter from her mother's home around 3 a.m. and subsequently murdered her, WCCB Charlotte reports.
The situation, according to law enforcement, did not meet the criteria that an Amber Alert would be issued, which all took place amid the pursuit of Roach, WBTV notes.
The authorities continue to investigate the details surrounding the abduction and the circumstances that led to the issuing of an Amber Alert not being met.
