Kennesaw will kick off its "Art Blooms" initiative on Tuesday, bringing colorful public art displays to Downtown Kennesaw, Swift-Cantrell Park, and the Noonday Creek Trail. This event leads up to Art Hatch on April 19 at Depot Park, focusing on the theme "Seeds of Change," and aims to engage the community through student creativity, as reported by the City of Kennesaw release.
A scavenger hunt is part of the festivities, with cards available at local businesses like 1885 Grill and Frozen Cow Creamery. Participants can collect stamps from various locations, including Smith-Gilbert Gardens, and drop off completed cards at City Hall by May 30 for a chance to win prizes.
The Art Hatch event will take place at Depot Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and feature a variety of activities, including The Great Pollinator Count story time at 11 a.m., led by author Susan Edwards Richmond and Becky Griffin from the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension. Richmond will also sign her book after the session. Other activities include craft and book sessions led by Vidhya Jagannathan from the North Cobb Library, a Victorian flower pressing session with Amy Torrance from the Southern Museum, and a fashion show by Kennesaw State University's Fabric and Textiles Department. Local dance and art performances will also take place.
Food will be available from Huckadoo Pizza, and RSVPs are recommended through the Smith-Gilbert Gardens’ website. The event is supported by various community partners, including Town Center Community and the Cobb County School District Fine Arts Department.
