Delaware County is set to see a new face on its Municipal Court bench as assistant prosecutor Mark Fowler gears up to don the judge's robe. Governor Mike DeWine has made the call, appointing Fowler to take over the gavel on March 25, following Judge Marianne Hemmeter's move up to the Delaware County Common Pleas Court. According to an announcement on the Court News Ohio website, Fowler must campaign to maintain his seat in November's election.
Bringing more than a decade of legal acumen to the bench, Fowler's career kick-started in 2007 at the Ohio Attorney General's Office. Over the years, he represented various state departments' legal interests before settling into his role at the Delaware County Prosecutor's Office. Here, he's most noted for having to swiftly adapt to the ever-changing tides of legal advocacy, befitting the demands of public service with an admirable track record.
His academic roots trace back to Cleveland State University Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, where he snagged his Juris Doctor in 2006. Five years prior, he sharpened his mind with a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Akron. Fowler bolsters his resume with memberships in the Delaware County Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association, not to mention his accolade as a fellow of the Ohio State Bar Foundation.
Beyond his professional obligations, Fowler immerses himself deep into the Delaware community. He lends his legal expertise in service to the Buckeye Valley High School mock trial team and gives back as a member of Main Street Delaware and the Knights of Columbus Council 1056. Never shying away from community involvement, he dedicates time to the Delaware County Special Olympics and the Common Ground Free Store—efforts that reflect his commitment to serving in the courtroom and within the fabric of local life.
