Authorities in Houston are on the heels of an investigation following a grim discovery at a residence on Carmel Street last Sunday morning. According to the City of Houston News, Houston Fire Department personnel uncovered the burned remains of a 69-year-old man outside his home after extinguishing a fire at the location around 10 a.m.
Initially, officials reported no clear indications of violence or trauma on the man, whose name awaits confirmation by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The primary query that lingers is the cause of death, which an autopsy will determine as the investigation by HPD's Homicide Division Sergeant M. Cass and Detective J. Brown progresses.
While the HFD Arson Bureau undertakes inquiries into the fire's origin, the Houston Police Department encourages anyone with knowledge pertinent to this incident to come forward. Confirming to the public, "Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or speak anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS," as reported by the City of Houston News.
