Residents and business operators in Carrollton's Commercial Industrial Zone are currently under a boil water notice following a water pressure issue identified at the Golden Bear Booster Station. According to the City of Carrollton, the notice affects areas bounded by West Trinity Mills Road, Tarpley Road, Commander Drive, Midway Road and Westgrove Drive/Sojourn Drive. While no homes fall within this zone, several restaurants and businesses are impacted.
City officials have responded quickly to the situation by bypassing the malfunctioning station to restore pressure. Issued to combat potential contamination from the pressure drop, the boil water notice mandates: "Water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use," as detailed in the City of Carrollton. Bacteriological samples are being taken to ensure the water meets safety standards before lifting the advisory.
Although there are no residential customers within the affected zone, the City of Carrollton places immense importance on the health and safety of all who consume the water, including visitors to local businesses. Alternative measures such as purchasing bottled water are advised until the water is declared safe for consumption.
The affected commercial and industrial properties have been encouraged by the city authorities to disseminate this information widely. Specifically targeting those who drink the water but may have missed the notice. In their continued efforts, the City is stabilizing pressure, flushing lines and analyzing samples, although a precise timeline for resolution has not been confirmed, said Kirk Iverson, contactable at 972-466-3482 for those with inquiries.
