The City of Boulder is extending an invitation to its residents as it seeks public input on the future of Folsom Street. As part of the Folsom Street Safety Improvements Project, the city is exploring options to enhance travel safety and connectivity along this notable north-south artery.

An online Virtual Open House will be accessible until April 11, providing a platform for the community to voice opinions from the comfort of their homes. But for those who prefer a face-to-face interaction, an in-person meeting is scheduled for April 7, from 4-7 p.m. at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church. According to the City of Boulder, attendees at both virtual and physical venues can review existing priorities established from prior community feedback and offer their insights on the proposed design alternatives and preliminary assessments.

This initiative is a direct response to Boulder's Vision Zero goal, a citywide effort to eradicate serious and fatal crashes. Folsom Street, between Pine Street and Colorado Avenue, sits on Boulder’s High Risk Network. This segment also forms part of the regional High Injury Network seen by the Denver Regional Council of Governments as especially prone to severe collisions.

A focal point of the discussion is the Core Arterial Network initiative, which has been in the works for several years. It is aimed at overhauling key travel routes for improved safety, and Folsom Street's inclusion highlights its significance in the city's infrastructure network. Public participation in this process is integral, providing a foundation upon which the city plans to build a safer, more efficient roadway experience for travelers of all kinds.
