Residents in Brooklyn Park were awoken to the sound of gunfire in the early hours of March 26th. According to the Brooklyn Park Police Department, the report of "several shots heard" came in at around 12:40 AM from a single resident on the 6300 block of Utah Ave.
The police responded to the call, searching the neighborhood for any signs of a shooter or further evidence of the reported disturbance. Despite their efforts, officers initially came up empty-handed—no suspects or additional indications of shots were found, and no other callers chimed in with more specific information. This lack of immediate evidence might raise concerns among community members about response times and the effectiveness of the late-night patrolling.
Come daybreak, however, a new discovery was made. A local, walking his dog, stumbled upon fresh evidence of gunfire near the corner of 64th Ave and Utah Ave. This led to a more thorough canvassing of the area by law enforcement.
Officers investigated the vicinity but did not turn up any damage to houses or vehicles, and no injuries were reported. While the neighborhood breathes a sigh of relief that no physical harm came from the incident, the psychological comfort of safety has undoubtedly been rattled. The case remains under investigation as the police aim to piece together the events that disturbed the peace of a Brooklyn Park block.
