The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office has reported a substantial narcotics bust following a burglary investigation that has led to two arrests and the seizure of a significant amount of methamphetamine. Last Tuesday, authorities launched an investigation into a burglary in Burson, where firearms and ammunition were mentioned as some of the stolen items. Video evidence was utilized to identify a red sedan linked to the crime and led the detectives to suspect Jonathon Eugene Sullivan, a 40-year-old resident of Wallace. According to the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, Jonathon, along with Serene Sullivan, was apprehended during a traffic stop on East Saint Charles Street, San Andreas.
During the arrest, Jonathon was found with about 7 grams of suspected methamphetamine, while Serene had a loaded revolver in her waistband. Their discovery was not all that surprising considering the ongoing investigation had already pegged them as being involved in the burglary and subsequent illicit activities. The search didn't end there, however – Serene was later discovered concealing over a half pound of methamphetamine in her undergarments during the booking process, the drug discovery denoting the breadth of their involvement in narcotics.
Two days following their arrest, detectives served a search warrant at the Sullivan residence on South Camanche Parkway, finding more evidence of narcotic sales, narcotic paraphernalia, a rifle, and additional ammunition. The total charges against Jonathon Sullivan encompass eight different felonies and misdemeanors spanning parole violations, drug-related offences, and firearm possessions by a prohibited person, alongside burglary and theft. Serene Sullivan faces an equally serious assortment of eight felony and misdemeanor charges, including drug and firearm offenses, as well as burglary and theft. The intricacies of the case reflect a grim mosaic of narcotics and illegal firearms circulation undermining the rural serenity of Calaveras County.
The Sheriff's Office states that the investigation is ongoing, with efforts to gather more information and identify other suspects involved in these crimes. The community is urged to help by contacting the Sheriff's Office at 209-754-6030 with any information.
