In a recent crackdown on illegal street activities, California Highway Patrol officers intervened on a large group of motorcyclists' high-speed stunts along Interstate 5 and Interstate 805. This intervention took place on the morning of Saturday, March 8, 2025, and resulted in the issuance of 30 citations as well as the impounding of the offending vehicles. A statement by the CHP - Stockton Facebook post detailed the reckless driving and traffic disruption by the group, extending for a 24-mile stretch starting from 8 a.m. when the group was first spotted entering I-805 at Imperial Avenue.
At 8:30 a.m., the bikers exited I-5 at Via De La Valle in Solana Beach. CHP - Stockton officers guided them into a parking lot, where traffic wasn’t their main concern. Surrounded by engine noise and smoke from their stunts, they now faced consequences. The charges, including street racing, reckless driving, and being spectators to illegal activities, were misdemeanors, showing the state’s increasing effort to crack down on reckless behavior that endangers public safety.
Underlining the risks involved, the CHP - Stockton social media post reminded that the mere act of spectating within 200 feet of such illegal performances is itself a misdemeanor in California. "Make no mistake – if caught driving in a sideshow or being a spectator, you’ll face serious criminal charges and potentially thousands in fines/vehicle impound fees," the CHP - Stockton social media post stated, making it clear the state's rigorous stance on halting such public nuisances effectively.
