A 19-year-old male was stabbed after a conflict with a group of individuals near a local smoke shop in Ceres, prompting an investigation by the city's Police Department. After visiting the smoke shop located near Hatch Road and Herndon Avenue last Monday, the unnamed victim and his friends encountered a group outside the store, which led to a brief altercation, the victim, and his friends drove off eventually arriving at the 1300 block of Richland Avenue, as detailed in a recent social media post by the Ceres Police Department.
The conflict escalated after the victim left the vehicle and was confronted by the same individuals from the smoke shop encounter, according to the victim's account. He stated that he was attacked and stabbed multiple times by the assailants before escaping and being driven away from the scene. Despite the trauma, he, and his friends managed to seek help shortly afterward upon noticing a deputy sheriff on Crows Landing Road, whom they flagged down for assistance, in a joint response, officers from the Ceres Police Department and deputies of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department arrived at the designated crime scene to gather evidence.
Ceres Police Department's Detective Bureau has since taken charge of the investigation into the stabbing incident. The complications of the case are compounded by the fact that, thus far, no suspects have been apprehended and the motive behind the stabbing remains undetermined. The department is actively seeking information that could lead to the resolution of the case and is urging anyone with knowledge pertaining to the incident to come forward and speak to Detective Berlier at (209) 538-5616.
The Ceres Police Department post last Thursday, emphasized the need for community assistance, stating, "Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Berlier."
