Residents and commuters who rely on Marksheffel Road for their daily travels will need to seek alternative paths come Monday and Tuesday night. The city of Colorado Springs has announced a planned closure of Marksheffel Road, affecting the stretch from south of Dublin Boulevard to north of Stetson Hills Boulevard. The shutdown, scheduled for two consecutive nights starting March 10, will take place from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. each night.
The closure is meant to safely facilitate crews as they work to realign travel lanes, according to the City of Colorado Springs. During the scheduled work, travelers will be redirected to use Peterson Road between Dublin Boulevard and Stetson Hills Boulevard. These detours are marked, aiming to lessen the inconvenience and to maintain access to local neighborhoods like Mountain Valley Preserve.
Another significant impact to local traffic will be the closure of Ryker Peak Drive, which will stop all traffic from entering or exiting the neighborhood at Marksheffel Road until June. This move is necessary for the reconstruction of the intersection. Residents of Mountain Valley Preserve will still be able to access their homes through Tarren Heights on the east side of Marksheffel Road.
