A Covina Valley Unified School District employee was arrested on allegations of inappropriate sexual conduct with a minor, local authorities have reported. The individual in question, Christopher Confair, 34, who served as a basketball coach and substitute teacher in the district, was taken into custody this past Wednesday, with the Covina Police Department revealing the arrest the following day via a Facebook post.
According to the information released by the police, Confair is believed to have been involved with victims ranging in age from middle school to high school students. Although he has since been released after posting bail, set at $100,000, the police continue their investigation into the extent and duration of the alleged sexual assault. Covina Police Sergeant, Derek Gonzales conveyed to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune that the time frame over which these acts were committed has yet to be determined.
An article by the KTLA elucidates that Confair has coached the boys’ basketball team at Northview High School for six seasons up until February 2025. The same article mentioned that as of now, there are no further details regarding his alleged sexual crimes, however, Covina Police have emphasized that he no longer works for the school district.
