
Cuban national Anoy Lopez-Bles, 50, has been indicted on a bank robbery charge in Las Vegas, allegedly using a fake gun. He made his initial court appearance on Wednesday before Magistrate Judge Nancy J. Koppe, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Lopez-Bles is set to stand trial on Wednesday for allegedly robbing a bank with a replica firearm on February 1. Court records show he has six prior felony convictions, including bank robbery, drug offenses, and burglary in Nevada, along with five misdemeanor convictions, including domestic violence and larceny. He has failed to appear in court 20 times and has over 10 probation and parole violations. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in federal prison. Chief U.S. District Judge Andrew P. Gordon will oversee the case, as reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Acting U.S. Attorney Sue Fahami and FBI Special Agent in Charge Spencer L. Evans of the Las Vegas Division announced the indictment. The FBI and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department conducted the investigation. The case is now with prosecutors at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada. Lopez-Bles’s sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge based on the Sentencing Guidelines and other legal factors.
