
Tragedy struck the Dallas community on Sunday when officers responded to a shooting that left one man dead and another injured. The Dallas Police Department revealed that at approximately 6:45 p.m., they were called to the 7800 block of Ferguson Road, where 39-year-old Arvey Cruz Ortega was found shot to death. Another man sustained injuries but was treated and released at the scene.
In the chaos that unfolded, 22-year-old suspect Jonatan Espinoza allegedly also assaulted four officers. None of the officers required medical attention following the altercation. Espinoza now faces a slew of charges, including one count of Murder, one count of Aggravated assault with a deadly Weapon, and four counts of Assault on a Public Servant, and he has been detained at Dallas County Jail, the police authorities stated.
This incident has given rise to a fresh investigation, documented under case numbers 029007-2025 and 029053-2025.
