Renowned New York restaurateur Danny Meyer is expanding his culinary empire, bringing not one, but two restaurants from his Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG) to Boston’s Seaport District later this year. The buzz around town has solidified into concrete information, with Ci Siamo, the finely tuned Italian eatery, and Daily Provisions, the all-day café known for its signature crullers, setting up shop at the mixed-use development, Commonwealth Pier in late 2025.
Meyer, who already has a culinary footprint in the area with over a dozen Shake Shack locations, is well aware of the Seaport District's burgeoning appetite for new dining spots. Eater Boston reports that the forthcoming establishments will be housed where diners will find a familiar comfort with Ci Siamo's approach to pizzas, pasta, and live-fire cooking and Daily Provisions' reputation as a neighborhood kitchen. Although the competition is stiff in a city known for its Italian culinary offerings, with many local spots landing on annual Best Restaurants lists, Ci Siamo aims to impress with homey and approachable dishes, such as stuffed whole trout with pine nuts and raisins and pizza bianca with anchovies and salsa verde.
However, it's not just about palatable rivalry, according to the Easter Boston, Meyer is eager to experience Boston’s culinary scene, with La Padrona, Neptune Oyster, and Faccia a Faccia among his must-visit list, which only solidifies his commitment to becoming a part of the city's gastronomic dialogue.
And while we've seen our fair share of New York establishments setting their sights on Boston, as Boston Magazine notes, the arrival of USHG is especially notable given Meyer’s legacy in the industry. Despite Union Square Hospitality Group's ventures outside New York having met with mixed success, the Seaport's growth pattern promises a thriving venue for the restaurant duo. "We’re incredibly excited to join Boston’s dynamic dining scene and look forward to recreating the magic of both restaurants a bit further north,” said a representative for the group.
