In a swift move by the Buckeye City Council, Dave Roderique has stepped into the role of Interim City Manager, a decision stemming from an executive session on Friday. This reshuffling follows the Council's choice to place Dan Cotterman on paid administrative leave, a suspension capped at 60 days, as detailed in an announcement on the city's official website.
Having joined the Buckeye team back in 2017, Roderique served as the Economic Development Director until 2022. Since then, he's risen through the ranks to hold the role of Deputy City Manager. In his term, he's been steering all development-related efforts. While this is a personnel matter and details are sparse, the City of Buckeye said, “The entire City Council is confident Mr. Roderique can continue leading the city during this interim time to ensure we stay on track with our strategic planning and sustainable growth initiatives,” per Buckeye Mayor Eric Orsborn.
The city is holding its cards close, opting not to disclose more information regarding the administrative actions taken against Cotterman. The narrative concerning Cotterman's leave is tightly wrapped in the language of "personnel matter," prompting onlookers to ponder the situation's details.
