
An employee at Dollywood, the popular amusement park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, was injured today and airlifted to a hospital for treatment. The specifics of the injury were not immediately revealed.
Dollywood spokesperson Wes Ramey confirmed the incident, stating, "Dollywood confirms that an incident at the park earlier today resulted in an employee injury," in a statement obtained by WVLT. Onsite paramedics responded quickly before the employee was transported to a nearby medical facility.
Knox News also reported on the incident, reiterating Wes Ramey's statement that "At this time, our priority is supporting our employee and gathering information."
WBIR reported that an official update will be provided once additional details are available. Pigeon Forge Fire Chief Tony Watson provided further information, saying his team was called for a rescue involving "a person with entrapment" at 11:04 a.m. Chief Watson, who directed all further inquiries to park representatives, emphasized the seriousness of the situation. This incident comes just days before Dollywood is set to open for the season, with season pass holders visiting on Friday and the park opening to all ticket holders on Saturday.
