A sequence of events following an alleged auto theft led to a dramatic chase and the arrest of three individuals in downtown Memphis. The incident, which unfolded late afternoon on Sunday, began with a reported theft at 6025 Primacy Parkway, as detailed in a social media post by the Memphis Police Department. The authorities were alerted to the theft of a Red Infiniti Q60 by three Black males, who allegedly threatened a security officer with a gun before fleeing the scene in a gray Infiniti.
Later the same evening, a Memphis police officer on patrol noticed a suspect, wearing a black ski mask, at a vehicle on North Main Street. The report indicates that upon spotting the officer, the suspect entered a red Infiniti and performed an ill-advised U-turn, hitting two other cars at the intersection of Main Street and Talbot Avenue. The suspects then attempted to flee on foot but were apprehended after a brief pursuit. After the arrest, officers recovered marijuana inside the stolen vehicle.
The Memphis Police Department named the individuals involved as Eric Gray, aged 19, Tony Moss, aged 18, and a 17-year-old male, whose identity has not been disclosed due to his age. Each of them faces charges including Theft of Property valued at $10,000-$60,000, Evading Arrest on Foot, and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Manufacture/Deliver/Sell Marijuana. They were treated at Regional One for medical evaluation following the incident.
